A reverse caching system (120) monitors residential end-user communications tocache content files when they are transferred from the residential end-users(101-103) over access links (100) to a core communication network (115). Thereverse caching system (120) monitors the residential end-user communicationsto identify requests for the content files cached in the reverse cachingsystem (120). In response to identifying the requests, the reverse cachingsystem (120) transfers the requested content files from the reverse cachingsystem (120) to the core communication network (115).
