Disclosed are alkyd resin emulsions for coating varnishes, containing a water-insolublealkyd resin A and a water-soluble alkyd resin B that is used as an emulsifyingresin andrepresents an esterification product of an alkyd resin Ba which can behomogeneouslymixed with the alkyd resin A at a weight ratio (Ba to A) ranging between 2:98and 50:50,alkyd resin A being the resin that is to be emulsified, and an adduct Bb of aC1-C4alkoxy polyethylene glycol Bba and a cycloaliphatic dicarboxylic acidanhydride Bbb at amole ratio (Bba to Bbb) ranging between 0.95:1.05 mol/mol and 1.05:0.95mol/mol. Alsodisclosed is a method for the production thereof, the use thereof for coatingsubstratesselected among textiles, mineral materials, metals, and wood.
