The present invention provides a catalyticsteam gasification process ofgasifiying petrolelum coke. The solids composition within the gasificationreactor of the disclosed invention is maintained by controlling the catalystcomposition of the feed. The process utilizes sour water from the rawgasification product gases to recover and recycle catalyst. Fine particlesgenerated in the handling of coke are advantageously utilized to increase theefficiency of the process.
