A method for the cultivation of a plurality of young plants which differ interms ofspecies or variety to form a group of young plants which can be handled as aunit.The method includes providing a plurality of propagation pots, each containingasubstrate, which allow roots that form in a propagation pot to grow out at thesides,loading at least one growing container with the plurality of propagation potsin such amanner that the propagation pots arranged in each growing container are incontactwith one another in at least a portion of their lateral peripheral surface orarepressed against one another, introducing at least one cutting or seed intoeachpropagation pot, and allowing roots to form in the propagation pots of eachgrowingcontainer until roots emerging from the sides of the propagation pots haveformed anetwork of roots which binds the propagation pots in a growing containertogether asa cluster of propagation pots and holds them together.
