Method and system for on-demand localization based on standard mobile telephony terminals and interchange of messages, which uses devices with means for accessing the mobile telephony network in order to establish P2P communications between a service request device (1) and a location-transmitting device (2), which involves synchronizing said devices by virtue of the service request device (1) transmitting a synchronization start message and each location-transmitting device (2) transmitting a service performance response; if the location-transmitting device (2) transmitted a service performance confirmation, the service request device (1) transmits a location request message, the location-transmitting device effects a location query with a satellite localization system (3) and sends the location message; finally, one of the devices ends synchronization by sending a synchronization end message.
