The present invention relates to an improved bait station for attracting, controlling and/or eliminating populations of agricultural pest insects, which is formed by a base module with a closed-off lower end and open upper end, designed to contain liquid bait; an upper module with an open lower end and closed-off upper end, which is coupled to means for coupling and fastening to the base module; said upper module comprises apertures that allow insect access; said upper module comprising, at the closed-off upper end thereof, a hook element where a support means is hooked for suspending the station at a specific height; the invention being characterized in that said apertures are circular holes made in the wall of the upper module, thereby allowing the entry of target insects exclusively and preventing the entry of non-target insects, evaporation of the bait, the ingress of water that might dilute the bait and the ingress of impurities that might contaminate the bait; said base module includes, within, a volume of liquid bait and comprises a sealing means at the open upper end to prevent the exit, spillage or leakage of the liquid bait contained.
