The device (10) has an applicator (14) comprising a rod (18) at an end of an applicator element (20) e.g. brush, to be introduced in a container (12). The container comprises a movable piston (40) axially guided in a tubular body (22). The piston includes a passage opening (42) for the element and the rod. The applicator has an axial stop (70) supported on the piston along opening's circumference. The stop is radially retracted for passing across the opening, and includes an orifice (76) for an air passage when the stop is supported against the piston. The opening comprises corrugations to wipe a surface of the rod.
