The arrangement has a retractable armrest (20) angularly shifted with respect to a base (11) structure of a seat (10) so as to allow a V shaped free space (30) forming a housing between the seat and the arm rest. Axis (24) of the arm rest is parallel to an axis (15) of transport vehicle i.e. aircraft. The housing is integrated under the free space, and the armrest is made of shock absorbing material. The arm rest has a horizontal plate larger than a vertical support (21) so that a portion of the plate exceeds the support from a side of the support. An independent claim is also included for an ear shaped seat of transport vehicle, comprising a backrest.
