A control unit (740) compares the frequency characteristic of sound around a vehicle (MV) obtained by an analysis by an analysis unit (730) and the frequency characteristic of vehicle warning sound that is being outputted to the outside of the vehicle (MV). Subsequently, the control unit (740) compares both the frequency characteristics and determines whether or not both the frequency characteristics are similar to each other. When the result of the determination is negative, the control unit (740) maintains a waveform designation at the present point in time. As a result, the output of the vehicle warning sound that is being outputted at the present point in time to the outside of the vehicle is continued. Meanwhile, when the result of the determination is positive, a new waveform designation that designates a waveform not similar to the frequency characteristic obtained as the result of the analysis is sent to a supply unit (750). As a result, the generation of an output sound signal based on waveform information corresponding to the new waveform designation is started in the supply unit (750), and vehicle warning sound corresponding to the new waveform designation is outputted to the outside of the vehicle. Consequently, the vehicle warning sound suitable for drawing the attention of pedestrians is outputted to the outside of the vehicle.
