The invention relates to a method for limiting over-revving of a gas turbine (12) in the case of load shedding having the steps: operation of the gas turbine (12) by burning fuel (F) in a combustion chamber (22) of the gas turbine (12) and adding combustion air. Furthermore, the invention relates to a device (34) for regulating such an operation and to a power plant (10) having a gas turbine (12) and a generator (14). In order to reduce further the maximum overspeed of the gas turbine rotor (16) in the case of load shedding or a quick-action stop it is proposed that at or directly after the shedding of the load a gas volume is additionally fed to the combustion chamber (22) in addition to the normally supplied combustion air of the normally supplied fuel flow.
