In order to provide a domestic appliance component having a selectively increased thermal conductivity in at least one region of the domestic appliance component, a method of increasing a thermal conductivity of a material (10), in particular a glass-ceramic, by means of a laser (12), in which a laser beam (14) having a power density of at least 100 kW/cm2 is focused in the material (10), is proposed.
