MUSICAL DATA RETRIEVAL ON THE BASIS OF RHYTHM PATTERN SIMILARITY

The present invention addresses the problem of retrieving the musical data of phrases composed in rhythm patterns satisfying a condition determined by similarity to the intended rhythm pattern of a user. A user uses a rhythm input device (10) to input a rhythm pattern. On the basis of a clock signal output by a bar line clock output unit (211) and trigger data in the input rhythm patten, an input rhythm pattern storage unit (212) stores an input rhythm pattern in RAM. A rhythm pattern retrieval unit (213) retrieves, from a rhythm database (211), musical data having a rhythm pattern exhibiting the highest similarity to the stored input rhythm pattern. A performance processing unit (214) outputs the musical result data of the retrieval result from an audio output unit (26).
