Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for updating a call history count. The method comprises: a system side sets an instruction parameter for updating the call history count; and the system side determines, according to the instruction parameter for updating the call history count, whether to update the call history count after receiving a call request from the terminal. In the present invention, the system side flexibly sets the times of updating the call history count by setting the instruction parameter for updating the call history count. This greatly reduces the information processing load of the system while ensuring that the system side performs clone device detection.
