A method of enhancing readability of a graph showing data points on a display of a handheld device, comprises the method the steps of storing a sequence of data points in a memory mean, arranging the sequence of data points in intervals; so that at least n data points are arranged in each interval, wherein n is equal or greater than 2; determining, by a computer processor, a characteristic value representative of the n data points for each interval of a sequence of the intervals covering a user-specified range, and displaying the characteristic values for the user specified range on the display.
