The present invention discloses a method and apparatus for upgrading the version of a Radio Transmit Receive (RTR) single-board. The method includes: a superior master control board for the RTR single-board downloads and stores a version file for upgrading the RTR single-board (S101); the master control board distributes the version file to the RTR single-board (S102); the master control board transmits an activation notification to the RTR single-board, wherein the activation notification is used for instructing the RTR single-board to activate the version file (S103). With the invention, the version file of an RTR single-board is firstly distributed to a master control board, and then the version file is obtained by the RTR single-board from the master control board, thus improving version distribution efficiency, and shortening version upgrade time.
