The base (3) for creating a work station (1) that can be used in bookbinding comprises a raised part (13, 14, 15), which preferably comprises a raised portion, for accommodating a laminating device (10), and a supporting surface (35), which lies on the front side of the raised part (13) or extends to the front side, for accommodating a bookbinding device (16) and/or a binding device. A channel (g) for conveying a laminated book cover coming out of the laminating device (10) to the front side or underside of the base (3) is formed in the base (3) such that the laminated book cover can be removed from the channel (g) via of the front side of the base (3). The supporting surface (35) lies above the channel (g). The application contains an independent patent claim for a work station.
