Disclosed is a cross-linked composite gel of hyaluronic acid and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose and the production method therefor. It is made by using a hyaluronic acid monomer and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose as raw material in the presence of a diepoxide crosslinking agent. The particular production method is: mixing proportionally hyaluronic acid with a hydroxypropyl methylcellulose solution, adding a sodium hydroxide solution after a reaction under stirring until the mixture exhibits strong alkalinity, mixing the same uniformly, then adding the diepoxide crosslinking agent to the reaction system, regulating the solution to weakly acidic with an acid after a reaction under stirring, solidifying and dehydrating the system with acetone, washing the resulting product with an organic solvent and vacuum-drying it, thereby obtaining a powder of a hyaluronic acid-hydroxypropyl methylcellulose gel, then re-dissolving the powder to obtain the cross-linked composite gel of hyaluronic acid and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose. The cross-linked composite gel of hyaluronic acid and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose has a relatively high thermostability and biocompatibility, and can be used widely in the fields of medicine, surgery and cosmetics.
