PURPOSE: A collision preventing device and a collision preventing method of a crane are provided to minimize the error range of the position recognition of a crane using a movement distance computation formula and a position sensor.;CONSTITUTION: A collision preventing device of a crane comprises multiple encoders(110,210,310), a counter(400), a position sensor(600), and a controller(500). Whenever a hoisting motor(100), a traversing motor(200), and a traveling motor(300) are rotated, the encoders generate pulses. The counter counts the pulses and outputs the result values. The position sensor recognizes the current position of a crane and outputs a current position value. When the crane is turned on and a dangerous area is set, the controller recognizes the current position of the crane by calculating the moving distance of the crane using the result values.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
