PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for manufacturing float glass are provided to prevent environmental pollution and to shorten a time required for a pre-heating process by recycling at least part of inert gas.;CONSTITUTION: A float bath(110) stores movable molten metals and shapes glass ribbons based on the molten metals. A casing(116) is arranged at the end part of the float bath. A casing deformation preventing unit moves inert gas around the casing. A dross box(120) is adjacently arranged to the end part of the downstream of the float bath and includes lift-out rollers to draw the glass ribbons. An inflow unit introduces the inert gas into the dross box. A recycling path(170) supplies the inert gas discharged from the casing deformation preventing unit to the inflow unit.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
