Provided by the present invention are an anthraquinone colorant for coloring an ophthalmic lens represented by the following general formula (1):and a high molecular anthraquinone colorant obtained by forming a covalent bond between the anthraquinone colorant and a monomer for an ophthalmic lens. The monomer for an ophthalmic lens preferably has a polydimethylsiloxane structure. Further provided by the present invention is an ophthalmic lens material formed from a composition containing the colorant and a monomer for an ophthalmic lens having an unsaturated double bond, and the lens material containing a polymer comprising the monomer for an ophthalmic lens as a monomer unit.
