PURPOSE: A device and method for preventing the freezing of ship ballast water are provided to reduce manufacturing costs of a ship by circulating the water, heated in a heat exchanger for cooling a ship, in a ballast tank.;CONSTITUTION: A device for preventing the freezing of ship ballast water comprises a heat exchange line(10), a control valve(20), a freezing point sensor(30), a controller(40), and an exhausting part(50). The heat exchange line is connected a ballast tank(11) and supplies cooling water of high temperature. The control valve selectively opens and closes the heat exchange line. The freezing point sensor is installed in the ballast tank and senses a freezing point. The exhausting part is connected to the ballast tank and discharges the cooling water to outside at a flow rate according to the inflow rate of the cooling water.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
