PURPOSE: A parking assistant system and a method for sensing an obstacle using the same is provided to detect an invisible obstacle more accurately, thereby securing safety.;CONSTITUTION: A parking assistant system comprises a temperature sensor(120), a memory(130) and an electronic control unit(140). The temperature sensor measures current surrounding temperature. The memory saves the current surrounding temperature, and compensated time value mapped from current distance value between a car and an obstacle. The electronic control unit uses a time value which is the turning back time of ultra sonic wave reflected by the obstacle. The electronic control unit calculates the first distance value which is a distance between the car and the obstacle. The electronic control unit is inputted the current surrounding temperature from the temperature sensor. The electronic control unit refers the memory. The electronic control unit loads the compensated time value and reflects the same to the time value of reflected ultra sonic wave.
