PURPOSE: An ultrasound imaging apparatus for clutter filtering and a method thereof are provided to select a sub array of an I/Q(in-phase/quadrature-phase) signal, thereby providing an image of an accurate ultrasonic signal to a user.;CONSTITUTION: A signal conversion part(100) transmits an ultrasonic signal to a target. The signal conversion part receives ultrasonic signals reflected from the target. The signal conversion part converts the received ultrasonic signal into an I/Q(in-phase/quadrature-phase) signal which is corresponded to each pixel of an ultrasonic image. A memory(110) stores a execution process of an ultrasound imaging system. A controller(120) converts the I/Q signal which is converted and outputted by the signal conversion part into a frequency domain. The controller determines clutter elimination of the I/Q signal according to a plurality of signal characteristic values with respect to the converted I/Q signal. A user input part(130) provides an interface for receiving user input information.
