PURPOSE: A cadmium adsorbing method based on waste calcium carbonate obtained from the carbonization of flue gas desulfurization(FGD) gypsum is provided to economically eliminate cadmium based on products obtained from the reaction of the FGD gypsum and carbon dioxide. CONSTITUTION: A cadmium adsorbing method includes the following: FGD gypsum is dried; the dried FGD gypsum is filtered; the filtered FGD gypsum is reacted with carbon dioxide in an ammonium hydroxide solution; ammonium sulfate supernatant liquid is filtered and centrifuged to obtain an adsorbing agent; the adsorbing agent is dried; and cadmium is adsorbed from a cadmium dissolved solution using the dried adsorbing agent.
