PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for detecting the damage of a filtering membrane based on the transmembrane pressure of the filtering membrane are provided to improve the detection precision of the apparatus by increasing pressure loss rate if the filtering membrane is damaged.;CONSTITUTION: Membrane module includes a plurality of filtering membranes. Feed water is positioned at an external first side of the membrane module based on the surfaces of filtering membranes. Filtered water is positioned at an internal second side of the membrane module based on the surfaces of the filtering membranes. The feed water and the filtered water are discharged to the outside of the membrane module(S101). The first side and the second side of the membrane module are maintained in gaseous state(S102). Positive pressures are formed by injecting air to the first side of the membrane module(S103). Negative pressures are formed by sucking air to the second side of the membrane module(S104). Transmembrane pressure between the first side and the second side of the membrane module is increased to a pre-set value. The changing rate of the transmembrane pressure by lapse of time is measured(S105). Whether the filtering membranes are damaged is verified by comparing the measured changing rate of the transmembrane pressure to the pre-set value(S106).;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
