PURPOSE: A multimedia apparatus, a heterogeneous image sensor, and a controlling method thereof are provided to accurately identify users who are located around a multimedia apparatus by using the heterogeneous image sensor.;CONSTITUTION: An emitter(422) emits light to a user who is located around a multimedia device. A first image sensor(423) extracts depth data from the first image and photographs the first image through the light. A second image sensor(424) photographs a second image about a face of the sensed user and extracts the feature information from the second image.
