PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for measuring the thickness of cortical bone using a pulse-echo ultrasonic wave are provided to accurately diagnose an osteoporosis by measuring the thickness of the cortical bone with an ultrasonic wave radiated to the tibia. CONSTITUTION: An input unit(110) inputs an ultrasonic wave to a bone. A sensing unit(120) senses an echo ultrasonic wave reflected from the bone with a time difference. An operating unit(130) operates the thickness of a cortical bone by using the difference of the reception time of the echo ultrasonic wave sensed by the sensing unit. An output unit outputs an operation result from the operating unit.
