PURPOSE: A novel K-59 Lactobacillus acidophilus strain and fermented ginseng extract using the same are provided to promote insulin secretion and to prevent or treat diabetes.;CONSTITUTION: A ginseng fermentation is prepared by fermenting K-59 Lactobacillus acidophilus(KFCC11467P) or an alpha-rhamnosidase prepared from the strain. A method for preparing fermented ginseng extract comprises: a step of fermenting ginseng with the fermentation at 35-37°C for 3-10 days to prepare the fermentation; and a step of preparing an extract of the fermentation. The extract is an ethanol or ethanol solution extract. A composition for maintaining or improving glucose homeostasis contains the ginseng fermentation or the extract as an active ingredient.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
