PURPOSE: A composition containing Glycine maxim extract for preventing or treating vitiligo or poliosis is provided to enhance tyrosinase activity and to promote mRNA expression of tyrosinase, TRP-1, and TRP-2. CONSTITUTION: A cosmetological composition for treating vitiligo or poliosis contains Glycine maxim extract as an active ingredient. The extract is prepared using water, anhydrous or hydrous low carbon number alcohol, acetone, ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, dichloromethane, chloroform, hexane, or 1,3-butylene glycol. A pharmaceutical composition for treating or preventing vitiligo or poliosis contains the extract as an active ingredient. The pharmaceutical composition is manufactured in the form of powder, gel, ointment, cream, lotion, liquid, or aerosol.
