PURPOSE: Rhodium recovery from a three-way catalyst using hydrochloric acid leachate can be applied to processes for recovering Pt, Rh, Pd, V, Ni, Co, Mo, and etc. from waste catalysts produced in an oil refinery. CONSTITUTION: A method for recovering rhodium from a vehicle purifier comprise the steps of: reducing a purifier with N2H4, leaching the purifier with an oxidizer selected among H2O2, NaBrO3, and NaClO3 at a leaching temperature of 70-90C and an oxidizer concentration of 5-15% to HCl, and rinsing the purifier with HCl or H2O.
