PURPOSE: A soft reduction control device and method for a solidification shell are provided to improve the quality of products by reducing the variation of center segregation according to width in the same type of steel.;CONSTITUTION: A soft reduction control device for a solidification shell comprises a temperature measuring unit(110) and a control unit(190). The temperature measuring unit is installed in a strand and measures the surface temperature of a solidification shell in the transverse direction. The control unit calculates the difference between the maximum temperature and the center temperature of the solidification shell measured by the temperature measuring unit and compares the temperature difference with a predetermined reference value to variably control the soft reduction end point of the solidification shell. The control unit, if the temperature difference exceeds the reference value, operates the temperature difference with a predetermined constant to calculate an end position coefficient and multiplies the end position coefficient by a predetermined end solidification coefficient to obtain a soft reduction end point.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2013;[Reference numerals] (130) Memory; (140) Display unit; (150) Input unit; (190) Control unit
