PURPOSE: A supported catalyst and the selective catalytic converting method for the sorbitol of cellulose under the catalyst are provided to include both acid functional groups and metals. CONSTITUTION: A supported catalyst includes a porous support and acid functional groups. The porous support includes a plurality of pores. The acid functional groups and metals are positioned at either the surface or the pores of the support. The porous support includes at least one selected from a group including activated carbon, silica, alumina, porous carbon, and porous zeolite. The acid functional groups include either a sulfuric acid group or a carbonic acid group.
