PURPOSE: An integrated design method of communication protocols with SDL-OPNET co-simulation technique is provided to improve the reliability of performance evaluation by enabling performance evaluation without the separate OPENT model about the verified SDL model. CONSTITUTION: A protocol model(32) is designed using standard form language SDL from a protocol requirement(31)(S1). The functional verification is executed by a simulator and a verifier(S2). A verified SDL design model(33) is obtained. A performance evaluation environment model(34) is constructed by an OPNET(S3). A SDL-OPNET co-simulation system(35) controls simulation between the SDL function model and the OPNET performance evaluation model. The performance evaluation is executed through the SDL-OPNET co - simulation(S4,S5). A final SDL model(36) is completed by the feedback process. A protocol product(37) is obtained through a target potting process(S6).
