An optical subscriber network based on wavelength division multiplexing technology is provided to enhance the utilization of optical mainline network by accessing devices of subscribers through one optical distribution network. A center station includes a router having an optical transmitter/receiver(721,722) of a wavelength division multiplexing type, and wavelength division multiplexer/demultiplexer. An optical distribution network includes a mainline beam line connecting the wavelength division multiplexer/demultiplexer with a remote distribution node(723), and a branch beam line connecting the remote distribution node with a device of an optical subscriber. An independent communication channel of different wavelength is provided to each optical subscriber through one optical distribution network.
