PURPOSE: A spinel type positive electrode active material for lithium secondary batteries using manganese oxides by a hydrothermal method and a method for fabricating the same are provided to obtain manganese oxides using aluminium ions as metallic ion additives and to control the length of nanothorn formed on the surface of a nanothorn structure. CONSTITUTION: A method for fabricating a spinel type positive electrode active material for lithium secondary batteries using manganese oxides by a hydrothermal method comprises the steps of: preparing manganese oxide powder using a hydrothermal method; and preparing a spinel type positive electrode active material for lithium secondary batteries using the manganese oxide powder as a precursor. NH^4+ ions, SO4^2- ions, and M^z+ as a metal ion additive are included in a manganese-based solution.
