A method of manufacturing a lithium secondary battery according to the present invention comprises: a first step of forming a positive electrode plate using spinel lithium manganese oxide as a positive electrode active material; a second step of forming a negative electrode plate using a negative electrode active material which is configured to include lithium carbonate; a third step of forming a battery structure by stacking the positive electrode plate, the negative electrode plate, and a porous separation membrane such that the porous separation membrane is positioned between the positive electrode plate formed in the first step, and the negative electrode plate formed in the second step, and then manufacturing a battery by inserting the battery structure into a battery case and sealing the battery case after injecting an electrolyte solution therein; a fourth step of activating the battery formed in the third step, by charging and discharging the battery at least once; and a fifth step of performing an aging process by completely charging the battery, on which a formation process has been completed by the fourth step, and then storing the battery at 45-80C for 5-240 hours. According to the present invention, since the spinel lithium carbonate oxide is used as a positive electrode and the lithium carbonate is included in a negative electrode of the lithium secondary battery, the lithium carbonate included in the negative electrode flows out from the positive electrode to activate a manganese metal, which is reduced at the negative electrode, thereby greatly improving lifetime characteristics. As a result, the disadvantage of a battery which uses the spinel lithium manganese oxide as the positive electrode can be overcome.
