PURPOSE: A portable terminal check-in system using a location based service and a check-in method thereof are provided to give some benefits to a user when social check-in occurs, thereby increasing the frequency of service usage. CONSTITUTION: Location sensors of portable terminals(100) calculate the location of the portable terminals. An event detecting sensors of the portable terminals detects whether a predetermined social check-in motion occurs. A check-in server(200) receives a check-in request signal. The check-in server processes the social check-in for a user who transmits the check-in request signal.
