PURPOSE: A charging system for a mobile robot is provided to prevent sparks from being generated when docking the mobile robot because power is applied after a predetermined time interval so that damages of an inner circuit of a mobile robot and a charging station are prevented.;CONSTITUTION: A charging system for a mobile robot comprises a docking unit, a connection unit, and a control unit. The docking unit comprises charging terminals(111,112), a magnetic switch(120), and an electromagnet locking unit(130). The charging terminals are connected to terminals of a contact unit of the mobile robot and supply the power for charging a battery of the mobile robot. The magnetic switch is switched on/off according to approaching of a magnetic body. The electromagnet locking unit fixes a mobile robot by generating a magnetic field according to applying the power. The connection unit comprises a hinge connection part and physical switch(160). The hinge connection part corresponds to a lateral contact with a mobile robot by moving the docking unit to a direction where contacting to the contact unit. The physical switch is on-switched according to pushing of the mobile robot with respect to the docking unit and hinge connection part. The control module prevents a separation of the mobile robot by applying the power to the magnetic locking unit.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
