PURPOSE: An exothermic flux for treating dross to recover aluminium or aluminium alloy from the dross and a method for recovering aluminium or aluminium alloy from dross using the same are provided to minimize the risk of explosion due to over-heating by controlling the composition. CONSTITUTION: An exothermic flux for treating dross to recover aluminium or aluminium alloy from the dross comprises metal ox-nitride of 35-50 weight%, metal fluoride of 10-35 weight%, and chloride of 15-45 weight%, wherein the metal ox-nitride is one selected from the group consisting of NaNO3, KNO3, and their mixture. The exothermic flux is inserted to dross transferred from aluminium or aluminium alloy melt to a dross processing device to recover aluminium or aluminium alloy from the dross(2).
