1. A geostationary (GSO) satellite communications system comprising:! an earth station operable to transmit signals to a GSO satellite using a GSO frequency spectrum, wherein the earth station is further operable to transmit signals to a GSO satellite using an extended frequency spectrum, wherein the extended frequency spectrum includes a geostationary (GSO) frequency spectrum and non-geostationary (NGSO) frequency spectrum; ! a control center operable to instruct the earth station to transmit signals to the geostationary satellite using the geostationary frequency spectrum when it is expected that the non-geostationary satellite is on the same line with respect to the earth station and the geostationary satellite; and! moreover, the control center additionally operates in such a way as to instruct the earth station to transmit signals to the geostationary satellite using the extended frequency spectrum when it is expected that no non-geostationary satellite is on the same line relative to the earth station and the geostationary satellite. ! 2. The system of claim 1, wherein the control center can further instruct the earth station to transmit signals to the geostationary satellite using the extended frequency spectrum continuously when the non-geostationary satellite is not operating in the NGSO frequency spectrum. ! 3. The system according to claim 1, in which the non-geostationary frequency spectrum is located near the range of the geostationary frequency spectrum. ! 4.
