The invention relates to a method for controlling mining in longwall face operations involving a longwall conveyor (11), a shearer loader (12), and a hydraulic shield-type support (13), in subsurface hard coal mining. According to said method, the refuse part in the quantity of raw coal transported away from the face is determined by means of a measuring device arranged in the downstream drift region, and the nominal raw coal yield from the longwall face is calculated on a computer, for an individual location of a shearer loader (12) on the longwall face, and is converted into a load of the longwall conveyor (11), corresponding to a loading section associated with the location of the shearer loader (12). Then, the time of the passage of each loading section associated with a specific location of the shearer loader (12) and the actual raw coal yield and the refuse part therein for the respective loading section in the measuring device (18) are calculated such that longwall face areas yielding a higher or lower amount of refuse are shown as a result of the refuse parts associated with the continually changing locations of the shearer loader (12) along the face, and measures are taken to adapt the control of the mining work.
