FIELD: chemistry.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of monitoring olefin polymerisation reactions. Described are versions of a method of monitoring a polymerisation reaction, involving: a) measuring, during a polymerisation reaction of a polymer resin in a fluidised bed reactor, reaction parameters including at least reactor temperature, at least one property of the resin, and amount of at least one condensable diluent gas in the reactor; b) determining melt initiation temperature of dry polymer resin from at least one measured resin property using a predetermined relationship; and c) during the reaction, using a melt initiation temperature depression model to determine in real-time a reduced melt initiation temperature for the resin, e.g., temperature at which the resin is expected to begin to melt, in the presence of the at least one condensable diluent gas in the reactor.;EFFECT: controlling process conditions in the reactor in order to prevent disruption of its operation caused by conditions which lead to resin stickiness, as well as achieving maximum reactor efficiency.;37 cl, 3 tbl, 5 dwg
