To localise and assess the weld joint with respect to defects of different types, a suitable thermal image from the series of thermal images is used for each type of defect, wherein characteristic thermal images serve as references for determining the corresponding suitable thermal image.;EFFECT: improved method.;15 cl, 3 dwg
