The device has a laser diode (102) generating a laser beam, and a quarter-wave plate (105) modifying linear polarization of the laser beam into circular polarization and vice versa. A splitter (101) i.e. central splitting cube, allows a portion of the laser beam to pass along a predefined percentage. A concave mirror (107) sends the laser beam towards an atomic gas cell (106). A polarizer (103) is arranged between an output of the laser beam and the splitter in order to protect the laser diode from the retro reflections emitted by different optical elements constituting the device.
