The system has a light guide (1) comprising an injection zone (2) in which light produced by a light source (4) e.g. LED, is injected. The zone is extended by an extraction zone (8) of light propagating inside the guide for lighting a display device. The guide is presented in the form of a loop that closes the guide at the injection zone for allowing the light from the source, which is not extracted from the guide at the extraction zone, to continue its path inside the guide and to return to a starting point at the injection zone. The display device is arranged inside the loop.
