The watch (1) has a striking mechanism comprising a gong (3) fixed to a gong carrier (2), and a hammer (4) to strike the gong. A magnetic insulating element (20) prevents accidental contact of the gong against adjacent metallic pieces e.g. plate (5) and cage wall (6), of the watch. The insulating element has a movable permanent magnet (21) arranged on a portion of the gong remote from the gong carrier, and fixed permanent magnets (22, 23) arranged on the metallic pieces, where the movable permanent magnet is made of a ferromagnetic material.
