A method for producing a connection (1) between a hollow profile (2) of steel and a component (3) of an aluminum material, characterised in that a coating (4) on the hollow profile (2) is applied, that the hollow section (2) on the component (3) is pressed by means of longitudinal force fit, a non-positive connection between component (3) and the hollow profile (2) is produced and that the hollow profile (2) and the component (3) are thermally joined.
