Transdermal therapeutic system comprises: at least one active ingredient reservoir; an electrode provided on a skin-farther side and/or a side of the reservoir facing away from the skin; a counter-electrode provided on a skin-nearer side and/or a side of the reservoir facing the skin; and an additional electrode, which is provided for applying an electric field across the skin via the counter electrode, and separated against short circuits of the combination.
