The device has a voltage divider circuit (ES) arranged between a thermoelectric generator (TEG) and an electrical load (L). The voltage divider circuit includes a semiconductor component whose conductivity is influenced by an output voltage of the TEG such that increase of a current value in a given operating point reduces a voltage of the TEG. The voltage divider circuit includes an NPN transistor (T1), a MOSFET, a resistor (RB1), and a zener diode. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a current and/or a voltage of a TEM.
