The method involves receiving a three-dimensional planning image data set (16) before implantation. Two-dimensional fluoroscopic images are received during continuous implantation process or intermittent implantation process. A fusion image (22) is created from a current fluoroscopy image (20) and the planning image data set, and the fusion image is displayed. The planning image data set and the fluoroscopy images are registered with one another for creation of the fusion image, based on anatomical landmarks and/or markers external application. An independent claim is also included for an X-ray device comprising a C-shaped arm.
